Their vanilla bean yogurt has a very fresh and light flavour because they only use real vanilla bean that is cooked into the milk – there is no refined sugar or artificial flavour like other brands. They're proud to sweeten their recipe with just the right amount of BC honey. The result is a vanilla bean yogurt with only 13g of carbohydrates. This is a big difference compared to other leading brands that have 21+ grams of sugar. Due to their artisan process, the vanilla bean in the yogurt sometimes floats on the top and sometimes settles to the bottom of the container. The little black flecks of vanilla vary in each container depending on where in the batch it is made – but the vanilla flavour is still consistent across the batch because of how it is flavoured in the warm milk.
They craft their Cream Top yogurt in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, and are proud to use only 100% fresh whole milk from local grass-fed cows. Their Cream Top yogurt is made with fresh, whole milk and live cultures in true old world fashion. It has a softer and creamier consistency than the typical North American style yogurt that is made with skim milk powder, gelatin or thickeners.

As a microbiologist and whole food enthusiast, we started Tree Island in 2012 after returning from France where we tasted artisan yogurt made with fresh, whole milk. Nothing comparable existed in BC, so we set out to create it ourselves.
We are now making grass-fed, artisan yogurt at our production plant in the Comox Valley. We use 100% fresh whole BC milk, carefully select the best ingredients, and handcraft our yogurt in small batches using a traditional, slow-kettle cooking method.
Our mission is to nourish our community by strengthening the local food system and promoting land stewardship.
We are committed to building a sustainable future for our children and generations to come. We support local, grass-fed dairy farms with pastures that promote healthy ecosystems and we are using 50% less plastic in our new packaging.
