Hello Friends and Neighbours!

Allow us to introduce ourselves as the new owners of South Island Saskatoons. We are the Sailor family, two brothers Graeme (on the left with the hat) and Tim (on the right), along with our partners Casey (Graeme's wife on the left) and Moyra (Tim's fiancée on the right) and Jude (Graeme and Casey's son)!

We bought the farm as a way of bringing our family together and creating a life on the land, giving back to the earth and community. We feel very blessed to have landed here, it is a magical place. We are committed to continuing to offer high quality saskatoon berries and baked goods, and are so grateful to the loyal customers and friends of the farm. Thank you for welcoming us in for those of you we have already met in person. We look forward to meeting the rest of you soon! We'll continue to share updates with you as we continue learning and growing in our roles as farmers and share news about the farm so stay posted!

The Saskatoon (Amelanchier alnifolia) is a medium sized shrub, or small tree, which belongs to the Rose family. It is closely related to the apple, hawthorn and mountain ash. The Saskatoon is native to the Canadian Prairies, the Northwest Territories, the Yukon, Alaska, British Columbia and the northwestern and north central United States. It has gone by several names including Serviceberries, Juneberries, Shadberries, Sugar Pear, Indian Pear, and more.
